Today, I’m sharing a fun and easy crochet pattern so you can make your own Cooky keychain. Materials Needed:
- Alize Cotton Gold yarn (Pink, White)
- 2.5mm crochet hook
- 6mm safety eyes
- Yarn needle
- Embroidery thread (Black, White)
- Embroidery needle
- Scissors
- Stuffing
- Keychain ring
Abbreviations:
- SC - Single Crochet
- INC – Increase
- DEC – Decrease
- STS – Stitches
- SLST – Slip Stitch
Tip: Place a stitch marker on the first stitch of each round to keep track!
Head (Pink Yarn):
- Round 1: 6 SC in a magic ring = (6 STS)
- Round 2: 6 INC = (12 STS)
- Round 3: (SC, INC) x 6 = (18 STS)
- Round 4: (SC, SC, INC) x 6 = (24 STS)
- Round 5: (SC, SC, SC, INC) x 6 = (30 STS)
- Round 6: (SC, SC, SC, SC, INC) x 6 = (36 STS)
- Round 7-12: SC in each ST = (36 STS), 6 rows
Insert safety eyes between Rounds 8-9, about 4 STS apart. Start stuffing.
- Round 13: (SC, SC, SC, SC, DEC) x 6 = (30 STS)
- Round 14: (SC, SC, SC, DEC) x 6 = (24 STS)
Add more stuffing as needed.
- Round 15: (SC, SC, DEC) x 6 = (18 STS)
- Round 16: (SC, DEC) x 6 = (12 STS)
- Round 17: 6 DEC = (6 STS)
Leave a long tail for sewing. Weave the tail through the front loops of the last 6 stitches, pull tight, and hide it inside.
Ears (Pink Yarn) - Make 2:
- Round 1: 6 SC in a magic ring = (6 STS)
- Round 2: 6 INC = (12 STS)
- Round 3-7: SC in each ST = (12 STS), 5 rows
- Round 8: 8 SC, 2 DEC = (10 STS)
Leave a long tail for sewing.
White Part of Ears:
- Round 1: Make 7 chains.
- Round 2: Starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, work 5 SC. On the last chain, work 4 SC. Turn your work and continue with 5 SC. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
Make 2 pieces and sew them onto the pink ears.
Final Assembly:
- Sew the Ears: Attach the ears to the head. Fold or slightly curve the tip of the left ear for that signature Cooky look.
- Embroider the Face: Use black embroidery thread to sew the mouth, nose, and eyebrows. This is where Cooky's mischievous and confident expression comes to life!
