Crochet Chopper Hat for Cats and Dogs

Hello, it's been a while.. 

I'm thrilled that the Chopper cat hat that i crocheted for my cat Chopper has been receiving so much love, but it's been challenging to keep up with thedemand! After receiving several inquiries, I've decided to release the pattern so that others can make it themselves.



I hope you have fun making this crochet hat for your furry friends!

Turn your cat or dog into a cute Tony Tony Chopper with this beginner/intermediate-level crochet project that takes around 1 hour to complete. The pattern is suitable for cats and small dogs.

Materials Needed:
  • Yarn in peach, brown, and white (with the same weight)
  • Crochet hook recommended for your yarn
  • Scissors
  • Darning needle

Stitches Used:
  • CH: Chain / Chains
  • DC: Single Crochet
  • INC: Increase
  • DEC: Decrease
  • SLST: Slipstitch
  • BLO: Back Loop Only
  • STS: Stitches



Finished Item Size:
  • Width: 6 inches
  • Height: 4.5 inches

Notes:
  • This hat fits an average size cat and small dogs, but changing the hook size can make it smaller or larger.
  • The pattern is a 7-page PDF file using US terms.
  • Written instructions with pictures are included.

DIY BT21 RJ Keychain Pattern:

Today, I'm excited to show you how to create your very own RJ keychain, in both small and big versions! Whether you're adding some BTS charm to your keys, bag, or gifting it to a fellow ARMY friend, this pattern is a fun and easy way to express your fandom. So, grab your crochet hook and let’s bring RJ to life!

Materials Needed:

  • Alize Cotton Gold yarn (White)
  • 2.5mm crochet hook
  • 6mm safety eyes
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Stuffing
  • Keychain ring

Abbreviations:

  • SC - Single Crochet
  • HDC – Half Double Crochet
  • DC – Double Crochet
  • INC – Increase
  • DEC – Decrease
  • STS – Stitches
  • SLST – Slip Stitch

Tip: Always use a stitch marker on the first stitch of each round to help keep track!


Small RJ:

  1. Round 1: 8 SC in a magic ring = (8 STS)
  2. Round 2: 8 INC = (16 STS)
  3. Round 3: (SC, INC) x 8 = (24 STS)
  4. Round 4: (SC, SC, INC) x 8 = (32 STS)
  5. Round 5: SC all around = (32 STS)
  6. Round 6: (SC, HDC, 2 DC, 2 DC, HDC) x 2, (SC, HDC, 3 DC, HDC) x 2, (SC, HDC, 2 DC, 2 DC, HDC) x 2, SC into the last 4 STS, SLST to close

Repeat to make a second panel.

  • Leave a long tail on the second panel for sewing.
  • Add Safety Eyes: Position the eyes between the panels.
  • Embroider Facial Features: Use black thread to sew the eyebrows, nose, and mouth.
  • Sew Panels Together: Place the two panels back-to-back, sew around, and add stuffing before fully closing.
  • Attach Keychain Ring: Secure it at the top.

Big RJ:

  1. Round 1: 6 SC in a magic ring = (6 STS)
  2. Round 2: 6 INC = (12 STS)
  3. Round 3: (SC, INC) x 6 = (18 STS)
  4. Round 4: (SC, SC, INC) x 6 = (24 STS)
  5. Round 5: (SC, SC, SC, INC) x 6 = (30 STS)
  6. Round 6: (SC, SC, SC, SC, INC) x 6 = (36 STS)
  7. Round 7: SC all around = (36 STS)
  8. Round 8: (SC, HDC, 5 DC, HDC, SC) x 2, (SC, HDC, 4 DC, HDC, SC) x 2, (SC, HDC, 5 DC, HDC, SC) x 2, SC into the last 5 STS, SLST to close

Repeat to make a second panel.

  • Leave a long tail on the second panel for sewing.
  • Add Safety Eyes: Position the eyes to create RJ’s adorable expression.
  • Embroider Facial Features: Use black thread to sew on the eyebrows, nose, and mouth.
  • Sew Panels Together: Place the two panels back-to-back, sew around, and add stuffing before closing the final stitches.
  • Attach Keychain Ring: Securely sew it at the top of RJ’s head.
